Soprano Jana Holzmeier has been praised by reviewers as a 鈥渄elightful performer,鈥� possessing 鈥渃elestial鈥� sound, 鈥渋mpeccable phrasing and a keen sense of character.鈥�  The Austin American-Statesman described her as a performer who could 鈥渟tir up a few goosebumps with her vocal power and expression; just when you thought she had reached her limit, she found something in reserve.鈥�

Dr. Holzmeier is a Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE.  She has a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Music Performance from The University of Texas at Austin.  She teaches Applied Voice, Singer's Diction, Vocal Literature, Musical Theatre Voice Lessons, and Vocal Pedagogy.  Dr. Holzmeier is an active performer in the community and region.  She is certified to teach Levels I, II, and III of Somatic Voicework鈩�/The LoVetri Method.

Dr. Holzmeier has appeared as a soloist at Avery Fisher Hall with New York鈥檚 Westside Orchestra and in Germany, Austria, and Hungary. She has also performed with Abendmusik鈥撯�揕incoln, the Lincoln Symphony, the Voices of Omaha, the Axtell Area Oratorio Society, Lincoln Civic Orchestra, Lincoln Municipal Band, the Victoria Bach Festival, the New Texas Festival, Chamber Music Quad Cities, the Quad City Symphony, and the Quad Cities Mozart Festival. Her orchestral repertoire includes Canteloube鈥檚 Chants d鈥橝uvergne, Mahler's Des knaben Wunderhorn, Copland鈥檚 Old American Songs, Barber鈥檚 Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Ms. Holzmeier鈥檚 oratorio roles include Handel鈥檚 Messiah, Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, Coronation Mass, and Grand Mass in c minor, Poulenc鈥檚 Gloria, Bach鈥檚 St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion, and Magnificat, and Faur茅鈥檚 Requiem.

On the operatic stage, Ms. Holzmeier has appeared as Pamina in Die Zauberfl枚te, Laurie in The Tender Land, the Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, Ciesca and Nella in Gianni Schicchi, Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann, Mary in Randall Thompson鈥檚 The Nativity According to St. Luke, Nedda in Pagliacci, and Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance.
